Research vessels
The national research fleet is managed by the National Marine Facilities (NMF) department of the NIOZ. The whole fleet has recently been replaced and consists of three state-of-the-art ships: RV Anna Weber-van Bosse, RV Wim Wolff and RV Adriaen Coenen. Each is dedicated to a specific area of operation, from the shallow waters of the Wadden Sea to the open ocean of the Atlantic.

Renewal of the research fleet
A decade ago the NIOZ-NMF fleet was ageing and reached the end of its economic and technical lifespan. At that time the fleet comprised of the ocean-going ship RV Pelagia, the coastal vessel RV Navicula, and the inland vessel RV Stern.
